How to cope with no football before the Euros and Copa America
May 30, 2016
The football leagues are finished, all champions were crowned and suddenly we are facing a period with no competitive games. Meanwhile and after the either emotional or dramatic end of the season, football fans will face a lack of competitive emotions until the start of Euro 2016 and the Copa America Centenary.
Having been used to watching football during a long part of the year, the absence of expectation for what is going to happen with your team leaves a hole in your time that is not easy to fill, especially for those super fanatics that follow every show or social media account during the week before their team game. That intensity -even if it is for a short period of time- is now gone and you can feel yourself craving for the lack of glucose that fills your vases before exploding and celebrating a goal.
In an article published in The Guardian before the UEFA World Cup Final Brazil 2014, Dean Burnett explained what happens in your body when your team scores. In this case, "...those watching the football are already in a state of high arousal" he said, adding that the body will be "flooded with the hormones and glucose necessary for quick action" expressed in the way that you celebrate a goal; a moment when neurotransmitter dopamine is released untying your emotions and making you feeling rewarded for those seconds or minutes waiting for your team grabbing a victory.
Just imagine the adrenaline and dopamine produced by the anticipation of the Argentine fans watching the 26 passes produced by the Albiceleste before Esteban Cambiasso's goal during his side's 6-0 victory against Serbia & Montenegro at the AufSchalke Arena in Gelsenkirchen during Germany 2006.
We at World Foodball want to keep you in-form for the coming events with the gloucose and dopamine you'll need looking forward for a lot of anticipation and hopefully rewards from your National Team, if it plays in France 2016 or USA Copa America Centenary.
Enjoy it... The waiting is going to feel shorter for sure!
